State the name of your game and why you chose it.
Pie Kalah
List the countries where it is played and its origin.
This game is claimed by several countries. It is mostly associated with Liberia.
Describe how your game is played. State the object of the game. Clearly describe the rules.
• To play Pie Kalah you have to split the group up into two equal teams. Each team has to pick a leader.
• Team 1’s leader puts the rock into a team member’s hand.
• The team with the rock moves close together and chants together:
Ah! Pie ma yan ma kalah
Ah! sa ma kalah gbon whala
Yan! Hali, yoah! gay lay, gay la
• The leader of the other team calls out "To Kalah" which means "Hand me the stone." The leader tries to guess which member has the stone in their hand. If the leader guesses correctly then that team gets the stone. If not, the the first team goes again.
• After 10 minutes the team with the most correct guesses wins.
